The aim of this one day course is to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to enable you to create stunning panoramic images.

The Burren is an absolutely amazing place. The region measures approximately 250 square kilometres. Sadly, only a small portion has been designated a National Park (only 15km²), but this small area is one of the most spectacular landscapes in Ireland. Easily accessible and very rewarding, it offers an enormity of photographic possibilities. In this one day you’ll learn how to capture its beauty in panoramic splendour and hopefully be inspired by what is a truly unique landscape.

MORNING - Field Trip
Depending on the weather and time of year,
the day starts as early as possible. You are picked up at the hotel reception. It’s then a 30 minute drive to our location and on the way you will be briefed about your location.

Boots and suitable outdoor clothing are essential, as there is very little shelter if the weather does turn against us. But don’t be dismayed, as I feel the true beauty of the Burren is only revealed on an overcast day, either way, if it’s sunny or raining, you will get some amazing shots.

We break for lunch, but if you prefer to spend longer on location, we can supply packed lunches and a flask of hot tea or coffee at a moderate cost.

AFTERNOON - Post-processing
Back to the Hotel.
The afternoon is spent post-processing, an essential part of digital photography. This is where you will learn a variety of techniques on how to properly create your panoramic image, colour correct, retouch and prepare your image for printing. You will be taught using the latest software available.

Film or digital?

Digital only. Sadly film is no longer a practical option.

Will I need to bring my own equipment?

Yes, you need to bring your camera equipment. Try not to bring too much, one DSLR, One wide angle lens or normal range lens and a tripod will be sufficient for what we will cover.

I’m not very good!

Don’t worry, just know how to set the shutter speed, aperture and ISO on your Digital SLR.

Oh no... it’s raining...

Photography isn’t an armchair sport, if you want a good image, you need to get out there. The location is suitable for most weather conditions. However, if the weather’s too bad, we can reschedule.

I’m not very fit.

It’s not an endurance test. I like to take photographs, not hyperventilate from exhaustion. You will need to be able-bodied as there are a few slopes which can often be slippy, muddy and wet. Please wear the right gear and if it’s raining bring a change of clothes.
