The Comeragh Mountains are a very special place for me. As a child I was always able to glance around and see them. Now that I live in Limerick, my familiar landmark has become a most welcome sight whenever I visit the area.
Even a dull and wet day can be rewarding. The heavy rain had just stopped and a glint of light was trying to shine through underneath the clouds, softly illuminating the Nire Valley. Carraig na nGabhar is the second highest peak in the Comeragh Mountains. While having an almost soft shape, it is in total contrast to its steep and rocky east face.
When I had my camera packed away, the rain resumed almost immediately and although I got even wetter, I didn’t mind the walk back as I knew that the Comeraghs had graced me, once again, with an image I would be happy with.
